Hey, I am Sophie
Career in project management. Parent. Expat living in Paris, France.
Some years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new phase of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn’t in the plan for the long term. Like many expat moves, it started as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The first months were intense — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Day-to-day tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Faint Marsh Paper
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical tips drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical experience from living in France
- Focused on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something genuinely changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in France continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
